Round the World on Concorde
I hope that this hubpage will amuse, entertain and inspire you to explore our amazing world. If you do enjoy it, please leave your comments and I’ll update you as we continue our travels.
I must be one of the luckiest people on the planet to have won not one, but two round the World trips of a lifetime.
Incredibly, I won a Trip around the World on Concorde just days after I had resigned my teaching post to travel the world. Later, like Willie Wonka, I won a trip around the world on a Cadbury’s chocolate bar wrapper.
I'm a photographer, and unless I'm in the picture, all pictures are taken by me.
Inside the Concorde cockpit
I love entering competitions and have lost count of how many prizes that I have won, but travelling on Concorde will always be one of the highlights of my life.
Travelling around the world on Concorde at twice the speed of sound must be the best way to travel, and we were the first people to ever to do it onConcorde's first ever flight around the world.
A hotel fit for a Queen
From 5-star hotels to sleeping on the floor
I’ve been fortunate to have travelled 5-star and to have stayed in the same hotels as the Queen of England and President of the United States of America. I’ve also hitch-hiked around the world and slept on the side of the road and on the floors of bus stations, airports and ports.
Imprisoned in Alcatraz
Encouters with Dragons and Inprisoned in Alcatraz
I’ve travelled on trucks, planes, boats, motorbikes, horses, and camels but my favourite has to be riding on elephant back into the jungle. I’ve woken in my tent to find an elephant rummaging just a few feet away and I’ve had a close encounter with wild Komodo Dragons just before they devoured a young deer just yards from me.
The dolphin's the good looking one on the left!
Swimming with Dolphins
One of the most exciting things I have been lucky enough to do is swim with dolphins. It's a moment I will treasure for ever, and if you get the chance it really is something I'd recommend doing once in your life.
Times Square
The Earth Moved
New York, New York so good they named it twice.
What an amazing place. Flying on Concorde we actually arrived in New York before we left London! It was partly due to the time difference, but it was incredible to arrive at 11am when we left London at 12am.
Times Square is such a vibrant and exciting place to be. If you get a chance check out "The View" restuarant at the top of the Marriot Hotel. It has the only revolving restuarant in New York and I arrived so early for dinner that I actually had to get them to start the restaurant revolving. My wife tells me it's about the closest I have got to making the earth move for her.
Firework Finale
Disney World Florida
There really is nowhere else quite like Disney World Florida. We had a fabulous time at all the Disney parks, but the Magic Kingdom was just somehow extra special. The firework finale at the Princess's castle is something out of this world and there is always a special surprise!
Santa at the North Pole
Meeting Santa
In my travels I’ve met astronauts and senators and I’ve visited holy shrines from the Vatican to Buddhist temples in Nepal.
Lately, we’ve been travelling with our three young children in tow. We’ve had great fun from swimming with dolphins to learning to ski but watching our kids faces when they met Santa at the North Pole is something I will never forget.

Very cool, thanks for sharing!
Your roundthewordin80ways link is not working. I see a directory listing instead of a website.
Great hub!
I'm jealous. Can I come next time?
Nice job David - very entertaining - you need to share your secrets on how to win round the world trips.
Whew, David! Excellent Adventures.
Thanks for sharing ~Schelli
Hi David
Boy you are a very lucky man "Willy Wonka" chocolate wrapper winner to fly Concorde...now that is lucky.
Like the photos David, as this is your first Hub you did a great job. As you can't take ALL of us with you on your new adventures, why not take a camcorder?
You could let us be there with you with some personal video footage...I know people would love to see what you are up to and where in the world you are.
It may even, in a round about way, bring some joy and happiness to someone who isn't able to have the same quality of life.
Happy traveling David!
Great hub! I also love to travel and sadly I have never flew on the Concorde. Maybe I´ll have the chance to try the next supersonic plane.
Wow! Great stories, great pictures - you've obviously got a great 'attractor factor' with all those great result.
Or is it a numbers game? You know - the more you enter the better chance you have of winning. ;¬)
Hi David,
Thank you for the wonderful trip. This Hub really connected with me. Your Concorde flight, your swim with the Dolphins...I've experienced in a similiar way with a very different twist--I'll let you know when I write my Hub about it.
I hope you share some tips on how to travel with chlidren.
This is a fun & inspiring adventursome hub. I'm looking forward to more adventures of ... Londiana David (If I wrote that right you should be hearing the soundtrack from Indiana Jones :)

Good fun, David! I enjoyed your enjoyment...
Cheers,
Sheila
David,
Awesome hubpage! And incredibly interesting too! I am absolutely jealous of your travels but inspired as well. And winning two trips?!!! Would you mind picking some lottery numbers for me? (I'll share whatever I win!) Keep up the great hubs!
Arthur King
David,
Unfortunately most of the research says that most lottery winners go through the money very quickly-sometimes within a year- and then after that they have nothing- sad but true. It would be a heck of a year though:)
Arthur
Hi David,
Very well done!
John.

As a fellow travel junkie I'm really jealous of your trip around the world on Concord! I never got a chance (or had the money) to fly the Concord so now I can only imagine. Hope to see more from you.
David, great job and what a life you have lead.
Life and travel are both great adventures.
I've walked in elephant shit but never ridden them.

hey David
What a marvelous page. Your photos are so beautiful and the little story about the revolving restuarant was really cute. What a blessing that you were able to go to all of those wonderful places.
Tanya

Swimming with dolphins is amazing..I did that at Mauritius in Indian ocean, tied to the fast motor boat, because they were moving quite fast. There were about 450 wild dolphins around...it was scary amazing and unforgettable.
Hello David
Very nice hub, Its me Lucius from Mike Filsaime's office.

Hi,
Its true stock trading is not everyone’s cup of tea however one should try it to see if they have potential to earn money from the stock market or not.
Stock trading can only be rewarding if share trading is done with proper research. Those who believe in speculation will not sustain for long in stock market. Have fait on research tools and grab some stock market knowledge and see how much you can earn via just stock trading.

Great hub, David - you are lucky. My Dad worked on the engines for Concorde and he passed on his fascination of the plane to me.
